Opens, cups and the city championship 9

The tournament year of the region is made by its clubs. In Deizisau the Schachfreunde hold the International Autumn Open in the community hall each October, and the Böblinger Open of SC Böblingen around the turn of the year draws players from abroad; FIDE rates both. The International Stuttgart City Championship, played in May in the Stadthalle Ditzingen with SV Stuttgart-Wolfbusch, and the Oeffinger Open in the Festhalle Oeffingen fill the long holiday weekends of spring.

Summer brings the shorter formats: the Biergarten-Schnellschachturnier of SC Leinfelden in July, the open Baden-Württemberg school cup in a tent in Deizisau, the open seniors' tournament of Vaihingen/Rohr in August, the Silbercup in Freiberg am Neckar as a one-day rapid open, and the Remstal-Open in Grunbach at the start of October.
